Francis R. Merolli, 62
DOUGLAS-- Francis R. Merolli, 62, of 95 Southeast Main St., a retired sales manager, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- University Campus, Worcester, after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 14 years, Barbara A. (Napikoski) Merolli; a son, Rocco F. Merolli of Douglas; a daughter, Elizabeth A. Gaddis of Oxford; his mother, Lillian M. (Thompson) Durang of Northbridge; three granddaughters; a stepbrother, Kenneth Durant of Northbridge; and a stepsister, Virginia Von Allmen of Richmond Shores. He was born in Milford, son of Rocco F. Merolli, and lived in Bellingham before moving to Douglas 15 years ago. He graduated from Northbridge High School and from Worcester Junior College. He served four years in the Navy.
Mr. Merolli was a sales manager for New England Telephone in Worcester for 24 years, retiring in 1984. He was treasurer of Zion Lutheran Church in Oxford for many years, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, in Zion Lutheran Church, 70 Main St., Oxford. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Whitinsville section of Northbridge. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, in Jackman Funeral Home, 7 Mechanic St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Douglas Ambulance Fund, PO Box 222, Douglas, MA 01516.
